Foreword
“I opened my mouth and drew in my breath” (Psalm 119:131).
Open and purify the mouth of your soul, that is, your mind. Receive the Holy Spirit, and you will be able to speak rightly about the Virgin Mary. As we chant in the Church, “I shall open my mouth, and it shall be filled with the Spirit, and I shall pour forth words unto the Mother and Queen.”
We are not saints. We have simply gathered the teachings concerning the Mother of the Lord that have been handed down to us by the Holy Fathers and the hymnographers of the Church. These teachings were published by Archangels Publications in 2020 under the title Highly Favored One: The Life of Mariam.
The material presented in this column consists of adapted excerpts from the aforementioned publication.

“O Theotokos, living and inexhaustible fountain,
strengthen those who ponder the writings presented herein,
and, in Thy divine glory, vouchsafe unto them
crowns of everlasting glory.”
Amen.
